⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Breakfast Experience with Phenomenal Made-to-Order Dishes and Warm Hospitality at Tesoro Hobart!During my recent trip to Tasmania, I stayed at the beautiful Mövenpick Hotel Hobart. One of the absolute highlights of my accommodation package was having complimentary breakfast included at their on-site restaurant, Tesoro. Right from the first morning, this dining venue managed to completely elevate my perception of hotel breakfasts, delivering an experience that felt premium, thoughtfully curated, and incredibly satisfying.What sets Tesoro apart from most standard hotels is their brilliant hybrid breakfast concept. In addition to a high-quality "All You Can Eat" buffet layout featuring standard morning staples, they also provide a dedicated menu where you can choose specific, freshly prepared breakfast entrées. This allows guests to enjoy restaurant-quality, made-to-order dishes that are cooked to absolute perfection.On my very first morning, I decided to try option number one from their curated breakfast menu. This dish featured unique artisanal charcoal bread paired perfectly with flawlessly prepared soft-boiled eggs. The textures and flavors were fantastic, making it an incredibly delicious start to my day. The next morning, I was eager to explore more of the menu, so I ordered option number two. This time, the dish consisted of fresh, crusty sourdough bread accompanied by light and fluffy scrambled eggs. It was equally spectacular and cooked with clear culinary expertise.Another standout feature at the restaurant is their interactive fresh juice station located right at the counter. Instead of serving pre-packaged juices from a carton, Tesoro provides a commercial juicing machine alongside a vibrant spread of raw ingredients. Guests can customize their own healthy drinks by mixing various fresh fruits, crisp carrots, and leafy green vegetables. Drinking a personalized, vitamin-rich juice that was extracted right in front of me was incredibly refreshing and a wonderfully healthy touch to the meal. My only real regret from my time there was that my schedule did not allow me to return to Tesoro for dinner. I saw their evening menu online and heard great things, so I am sad I missed out on trying their signature house-made pasta dishes. Hopefully, on a future visit back to Hobart, I will stay at the Mövenpick again just to experience their dinner menu.Beyond the excellent food quality, the hospitality at Tesoro is truly commendable. The staff members are genuinely warm, professional, and always greeting guests with bright, authentic smiles. Their exceptional customer care was fully displayed when I requested a takeaway meal for my wife, who was resting in our room. Rather than just handing me a standard box, the staff went above and beyond by beautifully preparing the fresh food, placing it in a proper carry bag, and ensuring that all the necessary cutlery was included. The team could not be more accommodating. We had a huge ask that most restaurants would’ve turned us away but not only did we get an 11 person reservation on a Friday night with 30 minutes notice, the team gave us the private dining room. All the food came out quickly and was delicious. Opted in for dessert and the cheesecake was a standout. Our dirty martini’s were perfect. What a great evening! Food was pretty good, nothing outstanding though. Service was a bit faulty towers. There was no vibe, the lighting is too 'cool white', for a Saturday night I was expecting a lively atmosphere. There's too many decent restaurants in Hobart, this place needs to lift their game.

We Expected a decent meal / nothing special but it far surpassed our expectations. Every item we had was fantastic. The restaurant sources their products locally which we love because things are so fresh (and there is less air pollution when things are not shipped from hundreds or thousands of miles away). Service was excellent except for one waiter who took us to our table but luckily didn’t serve us. The food and service were so good that we came back the next night and had another wonderful meal. First came to Tesoro two years ago, ordered oysters and pasta and it was an amazing meal, very memorable. Returned recently and was pretty disappointed. The menu has changed but the oysters we got were only subpar, the garnish was completely frozen so eating the oyster was ruined because you had a mouth full of ice and couldn’t taste anything. The beef tartare was delicious but the crisps on the plate were equivalent to store-bought red rock deli and it didn’t justify the price. I got one of the rigatonis which was tasty, but ultimately had very little flavour for a fine dining restaurant. You couldn’t taste the sauce at all but you could taste the kale and the cheese (which at times was overpowering). The people I was with enjoyed their food but I was pretty disappointed. Such a disappointing experience here. Booked a table online after reading some reviews and looking over the menu - it all looked great! We arrived and stood waiting for 5 minutes while multiple staff members walked past and ignored us. A simple “hello, won’t be a moment” is the bare minimum surely? Sat down and waited another 15 minutes before anyone came over, half the restaurant was empty so I’m unsure why it took so long to greet, seat and take a drink order. We received our meals, just 2 knives on the table and after trying to get the attention of staff (who literally could not care less) I just got up and took cutlery from another table. The meal was terrible. The vegetarian linguine was only slightly better than Heinz spaghetti in a can. Awful. The beef tartare was bizarre (see pic attached) this has to be the most unappetising meal to be sat in front on me. A plate of dog food with some chips on the side. For these two things and a couple of ciders was $115! We left to pay and waited again for ages, staff didn’t ask how the meal was and actually didn’t even say thank you or have a good night - nothing. My advice, go elsewhere! The food here is genuinely the best food I’ve had in years. The focaccia is to die for and the Margherita pizza was sensational. Me and my friend will be coming back here on an empty stomach to eat as much as we possibly can, it was that good. I don’t usually leave a review…. But this should be known. I had one of the best meals of my life. Top 10 fore sure. Staff were amazing and really welcoming, they should have more stars to show how good this place is. Love it💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
